COUNCIL TAX SCAM EMAILS

e-mails

Residents are urged to be on their guard against a scam email telling them they are entitled to a Council Tax refund.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has issued the warning after some residents received an email advising them to claim the refund by clicking on a link and completing a form with their bank and card details.

Residents should be aware that these are not genuine emails relating to Council Tax or sent on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The Council will never ask people to disclose personal information by responding to an email or text message.

Anyone who has received such an email should report it by visiting: www.gov.uk and searching for: 'reporting suspicious emails'.
