Killed in action in Belgium 30 August 1918. Age 38.

Born in Malpas in 1880.

Second son of Thomas and  Martha Holland of 13 Winstanley Road, New Ferry, Cheshire.

All the Holland children were born in Malpas, before the family moved to New Ferry sometime between 1891 and 1901.

1871 census shows the family living in Lower Wych, and the 1881 census records they were living at Overton Heath

By the time of the 1901 census Ernest had moved to the Wirral.

Note*

Ernest is not currently recorded on the Malpas War Memorial or any other UK civic memorial.

It is suggested that this is because they moved away from the village prior to WW1 and were not associated with the local community at New Ferry.
