Born in Oldcastle, Malpas in 1890 (baptised on 29 January 1890.)
Third son of Richard and Sarah Jones of Oldcastle, Malpas.
The Jones family came from Oldcastle, Malpas. All of their children were born there.
The 1891 census records Ernest living at Oldcastle.
The 1901 census records him living at Warrington suggesting his family moved to Warrington sometime between 1891 and 1901.

Husband to Harriet Cairns (formerly Jones, nee Marsden) of 297 Winwick Road, Warrington, Lancashire and father of Elizabeth Ann, Annie E, Sarah, and Ernest O.

The 1911 Census shows Ernest's occupation as carter.
When he enlisted in 1916, his enlistment papers showed him as a bank clerk.
He died, aged 27, in the UK in June 1918 leaving his wife, Harriet, and their four young children.

Note*
Ernest is not currently recorded on the Malpas War Memorial or any other UK civic memorial.
It is suggested that this is because the family moved away from the village prior to WW1 and were not associated with the local community at Warrington.
