George Glover 

Sergeant No 10058  1st Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry.

Killed in action in Belgium 31 May 1918. Age 24.

Buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery, West-Vlaanderem, Belgium. XI. D. 11.

Born in Malpas in 1893 (baptised 24th September 1893)

Second son of William and May (Mary Jane) Glover (Nee Williams) of Cuddington Heath, Malpas. 

Mary Jane died in 1913, and William moved to live at Foel, Llangadfan, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, Wales.

The Glovers had 7 children: John (Jack), George, William, Ethel, Phyllis, Alice and Mary.

The 1911 Census shows George as a newspaper agent in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

George’s older brother, John (Jack), also lost his life in the Great War. John predeceasing George.

George and Jack were brothers of Phyllis Glover, care of Mrs Higginson of Cuddington Heath, Malpas, Cheshire.

There is a link between the Glovers and the Williams of Cuddington.

George and Frances Williams of Cuddington had a daughter Mary Jane who married a William Glover
