Born in Rensselaer, New York, United States of America on 6th October 1890.

Son of Thomas and Minnie H Jones who were living in Shrewsbury in 1901.

Married Keziah Ince in London in 1915.

Father of Edith K., who was baptised in St Oswald’s Church, Malpas on 22nd December 1918 and George I. who was baptised in St Oswald’s Church, Malpas on 6th November 1916.

The children’s births were registered in Whitchurch.

Thomas enlisted in the Royal Navy on 6th October 1908 and served on many ships.

Record of Death:

Died of pneumonia in Edinburgh 13th April 1919. Aged 28.

Buried on 17th April 1919 in Malpas Cemetery, Plot 469 West.

He was taken ill on the Hecla Torpedo Boat and died from pneumonia in the Royal Naval Hospital Edinburgh.

Thomas was awarded the Campaign Medals (1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal).

Further Information:

His wife Keziah was born in Malpas, and baptised in St Oswald’s Church.

Thomas was the son-in-law of J. Ince of Church Street.

It is assumed that Keziah continued to live in Malpas after they married, possibly with her parents, and that Thomas continued to serve in the Navy.
