Albert (George) Nevitt.

Personal Details:

Born in Malpas on 26th November 1911.

Son of Frederick & Martha (Nee Hopwood) Nevitt.

Married Bessie Wilkinson in quarter 2, 1939.

Father to John A. Nevitt born April 1940.

Albert was a builder’s joiner.

He had been a member of the town band, and before the war he  worked for Mr Biggins of Edge.

His young wife died about 1941; possibly in Child birth.

Regiment:          147 Field Regiment Royal Artillery.

Rank:                 Gunner.

Serial Number:   14361705.

Record of Death:

Killed in action in Normandy 11th June 1944. Aged 32.

Buried in Tilly-sur-Seulles War Cemetery France. I. K. 4.

Gravestone Inscription:

"WITHOUT FAREWELL YOU FELL ASLEEP LEAVING ONLY MEMORIES FOR US TO KEEP"

The family lived in Ebnal Bank, Hampton in 1939.
