The Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site records Bernard being honoured in the Liverpool (Anfield) Cemetery Sec. 7. Noncon. Grave 764. Screen Wall Panel 8.

However, there are reports that he was buried in a Mass Blitz grave at the Dale camp in Chester.

Born in the Whitchurch area, birth registered in Quarter 2 1918.

Son of John & Annie (Nee Hall) Young of Higher Wych.

Injured in a road accident on 21/22 January 1940 at Grindley Brook whilst on leave in the UK.

Believed to have been knocked down by a car. Taken to Chester Royal Infirmary.

It has been identified that Bernard has a CWGC grave in the Liverpool (Anfield) Cemetery but he was actually buried in a mass grave for blitz victims of Liverpool.

Bernard definitely died on 7/5/1941. It is thought that the accident on the A41 was unconnected with his death.

He was buried in a blitz grave in Liverpool. The heaviest nights of the Liverpool blitz were 1 to 7 May 1941
