Born in Malpas on 28th July 1919.
Son of Walter & Ellen Rowlands (Nee Jones) of Oldcastle.
Frank was working for Leonard Passey’s father (Leonard also lost his life by accidental drowning ) and living at Chorlton Lane Shop, Chorlton in 1939
.
Frank was onboard HMS LST-362 (LST is Landing Ship Tank) when it was torpedoed by German submarine U-744 southwest of Ireland.

Memorial service was held at Stockton Mission Room for Pte Frank Rowlands, aged 24, Oldcastle
