John (Kilby) Jones.

Personal Details:

Born in Wrexham in 1922. Birth registered in quarter 3, 1922.

Son of Richard Kilby & Annie C (Nee Ashton) Jones.

Old boy of Malpas Alport Primary School and employee of The Lodge, Wrexham Road, Malpas.

Record of Death:

Killed in action off Norway 21st February 1945. Aged 22.

Further information:

The family were living in Edge in 1945.

John was injured on 21 September 1941 in an aircraft accident (Oxford AB664) at Grantham.

He was a member of the crew of Halifax II bomber JP173 which crashed into the sea off Kristiansand, Norway whilst attacking German shipping. 

All 9 crew members lost their lives in the incident.
