Born in Wem (Whixall) birth registered in Q4 1912.

Son of John & Margaret Ann (Nee Ashley) Mullock.

His father died in 1931, and his mother remarried to William Grindley in Quarter 1, 1935,.

So Margaret Grindley was his mother and William Grindley was his step father – oddly they were described in the as his foster parents:

Samuel married Florence Ackerley in Quarter 4, 1940.
