Killed in action in Sicily 14 July 1943. Four days after the Allied landing. Age 24.

Buried in Syracuse War Cemetery Sicily. VI. C. 14.

Born in Birkenhead in 1919, his birth was registered in quarter 2, 1919 (April)

Son of William & Mary (Nee Booth) Alman.

William had a twin brother John.

Both William's grandfather and father were born in Malpas

The 1911 Census records William's father aged 16 (also William born in 1895) living with his parents John and Minnie Allman in Well Street, Malpas. He was recorded as a cycle fitter apprentice at Black Park, Whitchurch. 

He is registered in the 1921 census as living at 26, Charlecombe Street, Birkenhead.

In the 1939 census, William’s father and his wife had separated and were living in Chester & Birkenhead respectively.
