William had a twin brother John.
Both William's grandfather and father were born in Malpas
The 1911 Census records William's father aged 16 (also William born in 1895) living with his parents John and Minnie Allman in Well Street, Malpas. He was recorded as a cycle fitter apprentice at Black Park, Whitchurch.
He is registered in the 1921 census as living at 26, Charlecombe Street, Birkenhead.
In the 1939 census, William’s father and his wife had separated and were living in Chester & Birkenhead respectively.
