The next meeting of Malpas Amateur Gardeners is on Thursday March 14th when we welcome Samantha Hopes from Ashwood Nurseries King's Winsford. Samantha is going to talk about Hellebores, a beautiful plant that gives such colour in the early Spring. She will give us tips on getting the best out of this lovely group of plants.
We meet as usual at 7.30 in the Community Church, it's still not too late to join the club and have all those handy email reminders of what is coming up .
All are welcome, entrance is £2 for members and £5 for visitors, which includes a raffle ticket and refreshments.
The April speaker is John Scrace who will talk to us about 'Fabulous Fungi'.
John is a Plant pathologist who works for the RHS answering people's gardening plant health problems.
Fungi are of course responsible for some nasty diseases, but some are also hugely beneficial, living around the roots of most plants, supplying them with nutrients and being fed by the plant in return.
Some are very beautiful and rot down leaves.
John will tell us about the huge mysterious network of fungi in the soil and the other benefits of this colourful group of 'plants'.
