Malpas Parish Council is developing plans to extend the car park in the centre of the village.
The shortage of off-road parking space has long been seen as a hindrance for people wanting to use the local shops and services.
Now, after months of negotiations, the Council is preparing an application for planning permission to extend the car park off the High Street, to include secure cycle parking and charging for electric vehicles, as well as extra parking bays.
The plans will be revealed at the Malpas CAN (Climate Action Now) exhibition to be held in the Jubilee Hall on Saturday 20 November (10am-3pm).
The Parish Council believes that 'Shop Local' is an important part of the message on tackling the climate emergency.
The plans to make the village a safer and more attractive place to shop, eat and relax will be presented alongside exhibits from local businesses and voluntary organisations giving a multitude of ideas on how residents and visitors can reduce their harmful impact on the environment and help to reverse the trend for ever increasing carbon emissions.
