A section of wall at St Oswald's Church, Malpas collapsed in January after heavy storms.
The Cheshire West and Chester Council commissioned a structural engineer who advised that two stages of work were necessary.
Stage one to carry out temporary works to make the wall safe and stage two to undertake a permanent repair of the wall.
Church Street has remained closed to traffic to allow the temporary works to be carried out.
Stage 1 (temporary) works are now completed and the road is able to be reopened to traffic on Friday 27 August using temporary traffic signals.
Please note these temporary works are purely functional and are not intended to be aesthetically pleasing.
The permanent works will, of course, be appropriate to the Listed designation of the structure.
To avoid any disruption either side of the traffic lights, it is necessary to revoke parking using a legal Traffic Regulation Order for approximately 30 metres either side. (see blue lines on plan below)
The Council apologises for the inconvenience that this may cause, and is currently liaising with the Church to obtain permission for alternative parking to be made available.
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience.
