Wastewater network and treatment facilities in No Man's Heath and Malpas

Over the next few months, Welsh Water will be investing over £2.3 million to improve the wastewater network and treatment facilities in No Man's Heath and Malpas; this to improve the infrastructure and protect the local environment.

The project will involve turning No Man's Heath treatment works into a pumping station with flows from the village then being pumped through a newly laid 2km pipe to nearby Malpas wastewater treatment works.

As space on the No Man's Heath site is limited to carry out improvement works and add new equipment, we will be modifying the site to be a pumping station rather than a treatment works.

Upgrades will also be carried out at Malpas wastewater treatment works to ensure the water is cleaned and treated water to the highest standards to help protect the local environment.

We will have a compound and storage next to our No Man's Heath wastewater treatment site during the work.

The work is being done to meet tightened regulations to ensure wastewater is treated to the highest standard before it is returned to the environment.

All of the work will be carried out within Welsh Water sites and in fields so shouldn't cause too much disruption to local residents.

We are working closely with landowners that own land where the new pipe will be laid and will work closely with a handful of residents where we will be crossing their access lane.

The work will not affect wastewater services for our customers, but residents will notice construction traffic in the area, but this should not cause an inconvenience.

This work will be carried out by our partners Morgan Sindall.

Our team will be working on site Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 5.30pm, but they may sometimes need to work later and on weekends to get the work done.

The work will start week beginning July 25th and we should have everything finished by the end of March 2023, but we'll do our best to finish as soon as we can.

We've sent letters to properties near our working area to let them know about the work and will be posting on social media to let the wider community know.

We will also be sending out a press release to the local media.
