80 years ago the guns fell silent in Europe on the world's second global war.
It is time to think about all of those who gave their lives for us and also those who experienced the hardship of living through those tragic times.

Project Objectives

to remember and honour the soldiers who gave their lives during World War 2 and are listed on the Malpas War Memorial
to recognise the hardship endured and sacrifices made by local residents during the 1939 – 1945 period.
to provide a comprehensive cross section of events that will be of interest to our current village residents, thus helping newcomers to the village, to get to know our history, thereby enhancing our overall community spirit and pride of place.

The Four day event is taking place in Malpas on 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th May 2025 marking the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

The celebrations will have something to appeal to all ages of the community.

Join our parade

At 12:30pm on Saturday 10th May 2025, a commemorative parade of period vehicles, and suitably attired residents will move through the streets making its way to the Recreation Ground.

If you own a 1940's or pre-World War two car, tractor, motorcycle or military vehicle, then we would invite you to join our parade.

We would also like residents to participate in the occasion by wearing 1940's period dress.

Wartime Roadshow

Make sure to visit our Wartime Roadshow which includes military, civilian and domestic artefacts from the Second World War.

The search for Second World War artefacts to display at a Wartime Roadshow in May 2025 has begun.
Local and former residents who would be interested in sharing family photographs and memorabilia from the period for a exhibition should contact Adrian Waddelove
