Malpas Walking for Health Scheme

Walking is the closest thing to perfect exercise – it's a free, sociable, easy activity.
The Malpas Walking for Health Scheme started in April 2014 and offers a simple, local and free way to get more active.
The Scheme is accredited by the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support.

All walk leaders attend a one-day training session and receive advice and guidance on their role.

The walks start from the High Street Church at 10:15 am.

Our walks are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday and the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month and with shorter walks lasting about ¾ hour and longer walks around one and half hours with options to do shorter routes depending upon the individual abilities.
We finish our walks with refreshments at the High Street Church.

Here are a couple of comments received from our walkers

"I only joined this walk group recently after moving into the area and to date have taken part in two local walks.
Due to a health problem I cannot walk far nor fast so these walks are ideal for me as I can go at my own pace or take a shortcut with one of the friendly walk leaders, to whom I give my thanks.
The walks also give me the opportunity to get to know the area and meet new people who have made me feel very welcome so much so that I am looking forward to our next outing."
Maureen

"Walking for Health is fun! It's an opportunity to have gentle exercise in the fresh air; chat to old (and new) friends; it's a non-threatening way of exercising in a caring environment.
Each of us is encouraged to go at our own pace without feeling that we have to 'keep up' with anyone else and, at the end of our short walk, we enjoy refreshments in a convivial atmosphere.
Whether you're young, old, healthy or infirm, it's an excellent way of enjoying a few hours of 'me time'."
